Teaser Tuesday, hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading, is a weekly book-oriented meme.
Rules for participating:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
Well… with a passage like this, from Robert Mullin’s Bid the Gods Arise, I can’t just give you 2 sentences…
“He’s been my life ever since he was born,” he continued. He didn’t know how much she understood, but talking felt good. “I taught him everything I knew, and took more pride in his accomplishments than my own. I was always fated to preside over the Temple, and possibly even the city, eventually, but Aric . . . Aric could go anywhere, do anything he wanted. I wanted freedoms for him I would never have.” He choked. “I don’t know what I would do if he were gone.”
Robert has created a fascinating world in a vast, sprawling landscape filled with colorful characters that the reader will become passionate about. You’ll want to know what happens to them. Check it out!
Battle Scars update: I shipped the final part of the novel to beta readers over the weekend. My writers group gets to hear the end of part 2 this week. I may end up having to Skype in for our meeting like Marie from British Columbia usually does. We’re in the line of fire for a foot of snow on Thursday, and if that’s the case, I think I’ll stay home!
With the first draft done, I need to find something to occupy my time for a few weeks while the novel simmers on the back burner. More on that later this week!
