picture moments – vacation in Hawaii

It is impossible for me to identify my favorite places or moments on this vacation.

The best part was being together with the whole family. We saw so many awe-inspiring and moving places. (The kids saw a lot more because I managed to be stuck in bed for 1 1/2 days with fever/cold/cough.) We stayed in Honolulu for 5 days on Waikiki Beach.

We went to Pearl Harbor and saw the USS Arizona Memorial.

The waves on the North Shore were incredible. (No surfing for us!) And Lanikai Beach was gorgeous.

The kids hiked Diamond Head, Makapuu, and Waimea Falls. There was snorkeling at Lanakai and Hanauma Bay.

We flew to the Big Island of Hawai’i to spend our last 2 days and saw the incredible Kilaheua Caldera with the smoking Halemaumau crater and amazing steam vents in Volcanoes National Park.

We drove along the path south to the end of the road where lava blocks the road and hiked on the lava field.

And finally, on our last morning, we went to Punalu’u to see the Black Sand Beach and the sea turtles.

Did I get any writing done? My plan had been to watch the sun rise with coffee in hand and laptop on lap. I did manage the former each day in Waikiki. I stared at and re-worked the book blurb about 2 dozen times, and might have done more if I hadn’t been sick. March is going to be a busy month:  final edits on the manuscript, working with the map artist on 2 maps, book cover reveal. Exciting days ahead.

It sounds as though you had a wonderful time, apart from the being ill thing. Good luck with your busy month of March.
